Microsoft announced the initial release of Office 2019, the Office suite built for Mac. Since the Office 2011 release, the new Mac Office is the first major upgrade package of Microsoft Office applications on the OS X platform. The new version of the program includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook, and brings many new features, including support for high-resolution Retina displays and full-screen applications. Its main focus is standardization and better integration with the cloud-based service OneDrive.
The Mac version of Office 2019 inherits many elements from the Windows version of Office and the mobile client application Office launched last year. The ribbon update is a new organizing tool and formatting feature. The user interface has been completely redesigned with new themes and styles based on the latest Mac capabilities. In the spirit of Yosemite, there is even a new design theme whose greatest strength is support for full-screen applications on macOS.
