A few days ago, I said Baidu rejected IE6 and 7. Then my friend Li Zeqi started rejecting IE6 in a rush. Should we reject IE6 users?
Right now China still has lots of Windows XP users, and IE6 is bundled with XP. Many won’t upgrade, and some dare not upgrade, because in China, government sites, online banking, etc. were developed earlier and they don’t want to upgrade their systems, so they require users to use IE6 to access them.
Plus the piracy of XP — another group of people can’t upgrade to a new version. Although only about 3% of users, China’s netizen population is huge, so it’s a dilemma.
Our site is just a small blog, with no user login or anything, and not high security requirements — just some CSS style compatibility issues. Big sites may reject IE6 users, but our site has just these few pages; why not just fix them properly?
