I wrote before about the habits of various search engines; today let’s look at the indexing status of my personal blog.
This post is written on the 38th day since the blog went online, also the 38th day since submitting to search engines. The indexing by each search engine is as follows:
Baidu: 1
360 Search: 93
Google: 132
Tencent Soso: 0
Microsoft Bing: 12
China Yahoo (Alibaba Cloud Search): 37
Sogou: 2
Youdao: 0
These are the ones you normally see. The most used is Baidu, then Google. From the indexing numbers, Google is generous, Baidu is stingy — probably still in the review period. Baidu’s spider comes every day, but it doesn’t release inner pages, only the homepage.
360 Search, I rather like it — it released the indexed pages quickly.
Tencent Soso made me sick. Before, when the site was being filed, Soso didn’t obey the Robots protocol and still crawled my pages, causing the service provider’s free multi-level domain to be indexed. Later I set up a 301 permanent redirect; the service provider’s free multi-level domain had over 10 pages indexed. After setting 301, it stopped indexing, but my www domain wasn’t indexed either. I contacted Soso; the reply was that they’d contacted the technicians, and now neither domain is indexed, but occasionally the spider records show Soso coming to look.
Microsoft’s Bing gives me a cautious feeling — if you copy articles with low originality, Bing won’t index them.
Yahoo — China Yahoo is now Alibaba’s, so China Yahoo and Alibaba Cloud Search are actually the same thing, sharing the database. So whatever Yahoo indexes, you can also find in Alibaba Cloud Search.
