Tools needed for making Ethernet cable[/caption]
The internet is already widespread, computers are everywhere, and Ethernet cable has become indispensable. Bought ready-made cables are never the right length — too long or too short — and relatively expensive; a cable at one yuan per meter is considered cheap, but making your own costs only about fifty cents per meter. Today let’s see how to make an Ethernet cable and an RJ45 connector.
Tools needed
The picture above already lists the basic tools: Ethernet cable, RJ45 connector, crimping pliers. A tester would be even better — that’s the one in the bottom right of the picture.
Cable wiring order
We use the T568B standard, which is: white-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, brown (from left to right).

After arranging the wiring order, insert it into the RJ45 connector, push it all the way in, and crimp with the pliers. Finally use the tester to check — if the lights come on and off in sequence, it’s normal; if some don’t light, or they jump out of order, then the cable is made wrong. Cut off the connector and redo it.
Notes on buying cable
When buying cable, note: use Category 5 cable! Category 3 only reaches 16M, Category 4 reaches 20M, only Category 5 and above can reach 100M. The cable length must not exceed 100 meters.
