Just got an email from Google — too bad, my application for Google AdSense was rejected, the reason being that personal blogs aren’t considered. The email reads:

The site does not comply with the Google AdSense cooperation policy or the Webmaster Quality Guidelines: Except for Taiwan, China, we currently do not accept personal blog sites under second-level domains in other regions; official sites of governments, schools, enterprises, etc. are also not considered for the time being. If your site falls into any of the above types, we are temporarily unable to approve your application.
Our goal is to provide advertisers with sites that offer rich, practical content, receive regular traffic, and allow us to serve well-targeted ads to users. Please read the Webmaster Quality Guidelines and the AdSense cooperation policy carefully. Why won’t mainland China blogs work? I think it’s because of mainland laws. Relevant regulations in our country require blogs and electronic bulletin boards (forums) to undergo prior approval and can’t just be opened casually — I guess it’s this law that makes Google not consider Chinese personal blogs.
So I can only turn to Alimama and Baidu Union.
