SwissBorg Loses $41M in SOL to a Security Incident, While Over 2M ETH Queue Up to Exit Staking

Swiss-based crypto asset management platform SwissBorg has confirmed a major security incident: roughly 192,600 SOL were lost, worth over $41 million. The breach occurred on August 9, 2025, tied to a compromised API provided by its third-party staking infrastructure partner Kiln, which let an attacker access the staking wallet and move the assets without authorization.

Kiln isn’t a staking provider focused only on the Solana ecosystem — its staking services cover most PoS networks, Ethereum included.

Kiln has published a notice and begun an orderly exit of all its Ethereum (ETH) validators. The exit process is a precautionary measure meant to preserve the ongoing integrity of the staked assets.

Ethereum staking tracker Validator Queue shows that as of 4:00 p.m. Beijing time on September 10, the amount of ETH queued to exit staking on the Ethereum network had surged to 2,040,329 — nearly double the all-time high of 1,058,531 set on August 29 — pushing the withdrawal wait to roughly 35 days 10 hours. Meanwhile, about 808,206 ETH are currently queued to enter staking, with an entry queue of roughly 14 days 1 hour.

There may be some panic in the short term, but no need to worry too much.
