I haven’t posted these days because I’ve been busy. After finding love this holiday, my personal site is also getting a redesign; back at school there’s club recruitment and continued study. Today let me give a sneak peek at my new homepage.
There are several reasons for moving the blog into a subdirectory. First, the blog alone is too single-purpose — landing straight on the blog never felt right. Second, I chose a subdirectory over a subdomain to consolidate link weight; a second-level domain would be a brand-new site and make link exchanges awkward, so I went with a second-level directory.
The new homepage is also in PHP; swapping it also changed the blog’s theme to one I made myself, so no more template collisions — you’ve seen how familiar many sites look, all using the same template, so I decided to build my own. Take a look at my new homepage:
