The site owner, NeilRen (Ren Fei), is a software developer, a programmer, who found staring at a computer every day rather dull. In QQ Zone he saw a teacher sharing her son’s growth records, the “Big Niu Ge Quotations,” and found it quite interesting. He wanted to collect similar fun and funny jokes and share them with everyone, to relax during spare time away from work — and so the ixiao column was born.
